Hello Class of 2015! Boozhoo! Sago! Kwey! September is quickly approaching and we are excited to meet you! My name is Hillary Trudeau and I work for the Aboriginal Resource Centre as the Liaison & Transition Coordinator. I would like to take this opportunity to inform you that the Aboriginal Student Advisor & Manager, Cara Wehkamp, Natasha Smith, Program Facilitator and I are here for you. We offer many services for our students including Aboriginal student advising and support, bursary and scholarship information and cultural and traditional programs. The Centre includes 6 computers, lounge area, resource library, and kitchen with a food pantry. We also host ‘Soup and Bannock Wednesday’ which is a wonderful way to meet your fellow Aboriginal students while enjoying a free lunch. Our goal is to make the ARC a welcoming place; ‘your home away from home’. Of course, the ARC is open to everyone! Bring your new friends! Participate in START Aboriginal, September 1-2, 2011. START Aboriginal is a two-day program designed to help new Aboriginal students and their families learn more about life at Guelph, what kinds of help are available, and the many people who are here to help you succeed. Parents and family members are encouraged to accompany students. There is no cost to participate in this program. Lunch and dinner are provided. Please let us know if you have any dietary or accessibility needs. The ARC will also be open on Move-in day, Saturday September 3. Come take a tour, relax and enjoy some refreshments. Check out our website for more information on our services & events: www.studentlife.uoguelph.ca/arc Happy Summer! |
