What’s the big deal about veggies anyways? Ever wonder why Mom pushes them so much? Fresh veggies & fruits are FULL of powerful antioxidants & nutrients to lower many chronic health risks, such as heart disease, diabetes, hypertension and cancer. Fruits & veggies are also a great source of fibre, which can help control your weight, regulate blood pressure & aid in healthy digestion. Still not convinced? Do you suffer from digestive complications or frequent acne breakouts? Do you feel sluggish halfway through your day? 7-10 servings of fruits & vegetables can help with that and much more!

So what about the other food groups you may ask? They’re just as important! A diet that includes the recommended servings from all 4 food groups will benefit your overall health & vitality! Is there enough food variety on-campus for me to meet these dietary requirements? You bet there is! Check this out!

Vegetables & Fruits: Visit the all-day salad bars with fresh-cut watermelon, strawberries, spinach, tomatoes & much more! Find whole seasonal fruit at the “Grab N Go” and pile up on a side of steamed corn, carrots, peas & broccoli at the hot counter.
Grain Products: Select from our fiber-rich whole-grain breads & bagels and whole-wheat pasta & pitas.
Milk & Alternatives: Enjoy chocolate milk, vanilla-flavoured soy milk or assorted fruit yogurts & individually packaged cheeses.
Meat & Alternatives: Go for lean turkey, roast beef or chicken in your sandwich and marinated tofu & chickpeas in your salad for a protein boost.
